SICCI in collaboration with RSM Chio Lim LLP, organised the seminar on ‘Singapore Budget 2012 – Highlights’. The session discussed the key budget announcements and what these meant for Singapore companies and SICCI members. Held at SICCI Building on 15 March 2012, the seminar was attended by more than 20 SICCI members.

The interactive session included a presentation by Ms Koh Puay Hoon, Director of Tax Services, RSM Chio Lim, on the key measures announced in this year’s Budget, which was delivered by Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister for Finance and Manpower, on 16 February 2012.

Ms Koh focused on the key initiatives under  Budget 2012, which included schemes to encourage more small and medium enterprises to innovate and upgrade themselves, for example, the Productivity Innovation Credit scheme. The presentation also touched on the need to retain and re-hire older workers as well as the need to be less dependent on foreign workers moving forward.

The audience actively participated in this session and, following the session, both speaker and participants continued their discussions, networking and interaction during the tea reception.
